The appointment with great cycling in Rome is renewed in 2025 as well: around the holiday of April 25th and in the area of the Baths of Caracalla, the 78th edition of the Gran Premio della Liberazione will take place, the fifth under the aegis of Terenzi Sport Eventi. As has now become customary, there will be multiple events within the event, attracting competitors of all ages and simple enthusiasts.
Not all of the program can be revealed yet, and there will be updates later on. For sure, Thursday, April 24th will be the turn of the Juniors: this year a true local, Santiago Ferraro, won (in the meantime he has turned professional with VF Bardiani Csf Faizanè), while for 2025 a sold-out is already expected with an unprecedented participation of foreign teams, a testament to the constant growth in prestige of the GP Liberazione.
This prestige will be at its peak on Friday the 25th. First, the international women's race, which this year saw Chiara Consonni claim her first victory of a season that later culminated with Olympic gold on the track in the Madison in Paris. In 2025, the UAE team is ready to return to defend the title.
Afterwards, a moment much loved by the public: Bike 4 Fun, the "Pedalata del dono" (Ride of Giving) in collaboration with ANED (National Association of Hemodialysis, Dialysis and Transplant) and AIDO (Italian Association for Organ, Tissue and Cell Donation Odv), open to anyone who wants to take a bike ride in the heart of the Eternal City for a charitable cause.
Finally, the "queen race" of the Liberazione: the Under 23 men's race (category 1.2U), a direct descendant of a tradition that began in 1946, a springboard to the highest levels of cycling. Its roll of honor includes a future champion like Gianni Bugno, and its podium has seen the likes of Moser and Cipollini. After all, whoever manages to master such an unpredictable course, with its constant short climbs and extremely tight curves, is not a winner by chance!
