Coati Women's Liberation 1.2: Silvia Zanardi speeds ahead of the Tonetti-Bariani tandem

The morning of April 25th at the Baths of Caracalla opens with the Coati Women's Liberation, the fifth edition of the women's race of the Gran Premio della Liberazione. The winner of the pink jersey (designed by QRED also in homage to the claim "Waiting for the Giro") after 16 laps for a total of 96 km, is Silvia Zanardi (Bepink) who leads the group in the sprint and shares the podium with two athletes from Fassa Bortolo: Cristina Tonetti and Giorgia Bariani.

The 73 participating girls rode together on the winding circuit in the center of Rome until the end, except for a gradual selection that led to just over thirty athletes contending for the victory: a sprint with little history, with the 23-year-old from Fiorenzuola, one of the best Italian track cyclists who on the road became Under 23 European champion in 2021.
Silvia Zanardi, who was tenth here last year (and Tonetti was eighth), thus allows Bepink to win the Mario Carbutti trophy, awarded to the winner's team.

These are Zanardi's words on stage, after being awarded by Svetlana Celli, president of the Capitoline Assembly: "I am very happy to have achieved a goal like the Liberazione, I hope it can be a springboard for important teams. I thank Bepink because all my teammates and my staff helped me a lot, even after I crashed in the first laps and had to get back in. The track? I like it as much as the road, I hope to earn a call-up to the World Championships!"

During this women's race, in an area of the bike village at Largo Cavalieri di Colombo, Youths and Beginners went wild: asphalt gymkhanas valid for the "Abilità Italia" project of the Italian Cycling Federation, aimed at developing the cycling skills of the youngest, according to the sacred principle of learning while having fun.
